What ICAO level can I reach within the language test with you?
With us you get your language skills up to ICAO Level 6 certified.
Do I have to choose a certain level in advance?
No, our testing system does not require you to commit yourself to a certain level in advance. After the exam you will receive the level that corresponds to your language level. So it is not the case that the exam is rated as “failed” if the desired level is not reached and you would have to take the exam again (except for level 3 and below).
How does the exam look like?
At the agreed examination date, your language examiner will contact you via Skype or zoom. Then first some personal data are entered into the system and a screenshot of you along with your ID card. You will then receive the final information about the exam from the examiner and you can ask questions. The test then begins:
First, 18 randomly selected questions are read out to you by the computer, to which you can freely answer. These are questions related to aviation, but are no technical questions.
The questions are linked to your aeronautical level of competence, which means that if you are still a flight student, you will be confronted with other questions as a holder of a private pilot certificate PPL. Holders of a CPL or ATPL license expect other questions, each tailored to the general aviation or commercial aviation background that you have and feel most comfortable with.
In any case, you have to describe 2x what you see in a picture, spell it out according to the NATO alphabet and answer general questions about your personal aviation reference.
If you are not a flight student or are only aiming for level 4, then there are 2 ATIS interpretations and 2 tasks from the listening comprehension section, where you have to give a radio message (commercial aviation) or a small conversation between 2 pilots.
For flight students only 16 questions are asked and only 12 questions for L4 exams.
This is followed by a 15 minute conversation with the examiner. There are no fixed topics.
In the L4 only exam, this conversation only lasts 10 minutes.
At the end of the exam, the examiner will evaluate it and then forward it to the second examiner (LPLE). This person then also evaluates and determines the final level achieved.
You will receive your language certificate via email 1 to 2 working days later.
If I do not achieve the desired level, does the exam count as failed and do I have to take the exam again?
No, except for level 3 and below, you will then simply be certified to the level that corresponds to your language competency. Example: You indicate that you would like to reach L6. If the examination shows that the language competence does not correspond to level 6, then the examination has not become “worthless” and must be repeated, but instead a level is certified accordingly lower than level 6 in the certificate.
I have never taken a language exam. Can I take my first exam here?
Yes, anytime. There is no difference in the exam.
My language entry in the license has expired. Can I still take the language test here?
Yes, this is not a problem. In any case, you will have to apply for a new flight license.
Can I extend my language entry before the exam ends?
Yes, this is possible up to 90 days before the validity expires.

Is the language test recognized in Austria?
Yes! The examination is carried out via the LAB110, which is based in Austria and is certified by Austrocontrol.
